notforprofithosting.org is for anyone who wants an affordable place of their own on the web — individuals, artists, small nonprofits, people who would rather not hand their work to a platform that might change its mind.
We believe in non-profit principles, and we will always do our best to give you good service at a fair price. That is why we build on open source software: it is inspectable, it is durable, and it does not disappear when a company is acquired.
What we host
Static websites. HTML, CSS, images, JavaScript — the things that make a site a site. Served over HTTPS, backed up, and kept working.
We deliberately do not run databases, mail servers, or a control panel any more. Those were the parts that broke, needed constant patching, and got in the way of the thing you actually wanted, which was for your site to be online. A site made of files is a site that still works in ten years.
If you need email
We will happily point your domain at a mail provider who does it properly — Google Workspace, Fastmail, Migadu. Your address stays yours; you just get somebody whose whole job is delivering mail.
If you need a database
Then honestly you need a different host, and we will tell you so rather than take your money.
We do AI too
Twenty-seven years of running servers turns out to be useful preparation for this. We can help you work out what is worth automating and what is not, wire a model into something you already have, or sit with you while you try it and tell you plainly when the answer is that you do not need it.
Same principle as the hosting: no jargon, no upsell, and we will say so if the honest answer is that a shell script would do.

Certificates are included and renew automatically — they used to cost $100 each, and now they are free, so we are not going to charge you for them.
