In short: use it lawfully, do not use it to harm anyone, do not use so much of it that other people’s sites suffer, and understand that this is a small operation run by a person rather than a company with a data centre. If you are unsure whether something is allowed, call and ask.
What you are buying
Space on a shared server to publish a static website, an HTTPS certificate, DNS service for your domain, and access to someone who will answer the phone. Annual plans include registration of your domain name in your own name — it belongs to you, not to us, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you like.
We do not provide email hosting, databases, or server-side scripting. If you need those, we will help you point your domain at somebody who does.
Acceptable use
Content must be lawful where you are and lawful in the United States, where the server lives. Beyond that, the following are not permitted:
- Material that promotes violence or hatred against people.
- Sexual content. This is a small shared server, not the place for it.
- Material that infringes someone else’s copyright or trademark, including pirated software and links to it.
- Using the account to attack, scan, or gain unauthorised access to other systems — or storing tools intended for that purpose.
- Sending unsolicited bulk email that references or relies on your site here.
- Consuming so much disk or bandwidth that other sites on the server are affected. If this happens we will call you before we do anything drastic.
Child sexual abuse material will be reported to the authorities immediately and the account terminated without notice or refund.
We reserve the right to decide what falls within these terms. We would rather talk to you about it than surprise you.
Backups and availability
We keep backups and we do our best to keep the server up, but this is a small operation without redundant hardware or staff on rotation. Do not treat this as the only copy of anything you care about. Keep your own copy of your site.
No uptime guarantee is offered, because one that could not be honoured would be worth nothing.
Payment and cancellation
Payment is due in advance, annually, on the anniversary of your account. Notices are sent by email. You may cancel at any time by calling us.
If you cancel, we refund the unused whole months remaining. We do not refund the month in progress. If you received a multi-year discount, the refund is calculated at the undiscounted rate for the time you actually used.
If we terminate your account for a breach of these terms, no refund is given. Any outstanding balance remains payable.
Prices may change. If you have already paid for a period, that price is honoured for that period.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. We are not liable for loss of data, loss of business, or any indirect damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the period in question.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
